Lowertown Apartments. St. Paul has been praised as one of America's most livable cities, noted for its European-style character, midwestern charm and high standard of living. It boasts some of the world's finest architecture, culture and cosmopolitan conveniences, yet it is only minutes away from picturesque parks and rural settings.

Since the early 1800s, St. Paul has prospered as a center for developing industries, such as trading, lumber and manufacturing, and in 1847 it took on even greater prominence when it became the capitol city of Minnesota. The Lowertown section of St. Paul was originally a quiet residential district. Around 1880 the railroad arrived and with it came radical change. The area became the wholesale, manufacturing and transportation center of the state. Most of the significant structures in Lowertown were built between 1890 and 1910, and many of them still stand today although they have been given new life as contemporary residences and commercial buildings.

Take a walk around Lowertown today and you'll find an interesting mix of character, culture and convenience. Next to the famous homes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Alexander Ramsey and the hideouts of Ma Barker and John Dillinger, are many museums and performing arts venues. Incredible Como Park offers a full complement of recreational amenities. The St. Paul Farmers market is well-stocked with fresh products every Spring, Summer and Fall. The State Fairgrounds offer a year round calendar of events. The skyway system makes getting around town easy to take, especially in colder months. And there's a virtually endless array of great shops and services, restaurants, clubs, cafes, leisure and entertainment attractions to enjoy any time of year.

Everything you could possibly want to enjoy a high standard of living is as close as Lowertown in charming St. Paul.
