Nestled in the heart of West Chester, along
lovely tree-lined streets and quaint Victorian-era architecture
you'll find Sharples Works apartments, a five-acre enclave of four
distinctive, historically certified brick and timber mill
buildings.
This unique complex was built in the 1890's to house the Sharples
Separator Works, developers of the dairy industry's first
tubular cream separator. The sprawling facility was considered
one of the country's most significant industrial production
plants of the era. Practically overnight the Sharples Separator
Works churned out efficient production of cream products for
countless Chester County dairy farmers, and thousands of workers
were hired to handle the company's growing capacity well
into the 20th century.
As technology changed, the Sharples Separator Works eventually
became an outmoded facility and the complex served a variety
of commercial purposes in the latter half of the 20th century.
In 1984 noted national rehabber, Historic Landmarks for Living,
bought and restored this rundown relic at a cost of $11 million.
Great care and creative renovation transformed this complex
into a luxury apartment community of 155 distinctive apartments,
blending the architectural details of the past with the contemporary
apartment amenities of the present.

Today, Sharples Works apartments is the crème
de la crème of luxury apartment living in beautiful
West Chester and all of Chester County!
