Imagine living in West Chester in the late 1800's. An area rich with rolling farmland stretching as far as the eyes could see. A small, quaint downtown serving as the seat ofWest Chester Apartments. Chester County, populated by policy makers, professionals, merchants and purveyors of farm-fresh products. In the center of it all was a growing family business started by the father of industrial dairy farming, Philip Sharples.

By 1899, Sharples expanded his production facility into one of the most significant manufacturing complexes in America and became home of the dairy industry's first tubular cream separator.

The Sharples Separator Works spread across a five-acre enclave, combining four brick and timber mill buildings to house its facility. Each of the buildings was designed with high ceilings, huge windows and monitor windows along the roofline to maximize the availability of natural light for production workers. The massive equipment needed to efficiently separate cream required tremendous space, so each building was as expansive in width as it was in height. Sharples Works Apartments.

As technology changed in the 20th century, and as dairy farms became more inclusive in their production capabilities, once innovative companies and facilities like Sharples Separator Works became as out of date as curdled cream. In 1984 Historic Landmarks for Living purchased the rundown complex and invested $11 million to transform it into a dazzling luxury apartment community of 155 distinctive residences.

Great care was taken to preserve the significant architectural details of the past and to creatively incorporate them into the common areas and unique design of each apartment. Rustic wood beams and columns...oversized industrial windows...authentic monitors...soaring ceilings...original brick...we've blended the most distinguished features of old with a host of contemporary amenities and conveniences. To retain the character of each building and to reflect the individuality of our residences, Sharples Works offers an incredible array of over 100 different floorplans, so virtually no two residences are alike!

Historic Landmarks has created a community that offers you the works - all the style you could possibly want, all the quality features, all the service and attention to detail you'd expect from a company with a history of success.

Come home to Sharples Works and enjoy the crème de la crème of luxury apartment living.
